Hello, my name is Chris Weicht This is a picture of me on my last commercial flight in 2002 over Princess Louisa inlet in beaver CF-JOM.
Chris Weicht was inducted into the British Columbia Aviation Hall of fame in 2017.
He was recognized for his more than 50 years of service to the aviation community of military, government, commercial, charter, bush and private flying in the Province of British Columbia.
Chris was born in London, England, and immigrated to Canada with his family when he was 13 years old. His love of flying and aviation was cemented when enroute to Canada he was invited to sit in the Captain’s chair on a Trans Canada Airline’s North Star.
Shortly after arriving in Canada he joined an Air Cadet squadron and subsequently received his pilot wings in 1953. Eventually he became an air cadet instructor at Abbotsford, B.C. and in 1982 was appointed the Commanding Officer.
Chris has had a colorful career as a pilot logging 18000 hours. In 2002 he retired from commercial flying.
After retiring he devoted his time to writing about the aviation history of the north west. His first book “Jericho Beach and the West Coast Flying Boat Stations” was a Canadian best seller.
He lives in Sechelt, British Columbia, a small community on the west coast of British Columbia.
